The BJJ KIDS Training is specially designed for children aged 5-9 years of age. Your child will learn to improve their motor skills, correct Brazilian Jui-Jitsu techniques and self-defense.
The reasons are obvious! In today’s multi-media crazed society our children are far too often sitting in front of the TV or playing video games. BJJ is a great way for children to socialize, make new friends while getting fit and having FUN! They will also learn discipline & respect, confidence through self-defense, improve their body awareness + coordination and finally develop a new hobby that brings an abundance of joy to their life!
Martial arts is one of the best ways to teach children (and adults) respect and discipline. With the correct training provided by our highly qualified teacher, your child will learn the true art of BJJ! Respect and discipline are crucial to the success of this martial arts sport. These acquired personal traits can be used beyond the vicinity of our gym and in your child’s day to day life. By respecting the learning process in their BJJ class it could potentially (and should) make them high achievers at school, including in their future career.
Self-defense is very important, especially for a child. One of the most important skills we will teach your child in Brazilian Jui-Jitsu is the ability to learn to defend themselves. This tool can be used to assess potentially dangerous situations and prevent anyone (including themselves) from getting hurt. Jui-Jitsu self-defense skills are particularly relevant in helping children to deal with bullying. Psychological damage from bullying can be catastrophic, but when children are trained in BJJ they develop the self-confidence and ability to defend themselves and their friends. We teach them how to take an attacker to the ground while also having control of them. They will learn to escape uncomfortable positions. For example being pinned underneath a much bigger or stronger attacker.
Once your child has mastered Brazilian Jui-Jitsu and acquired the knowledge of how to defend themselves (in a safe and controlled manner) it is without a doubt that they will have far more self-confidence. While we teach self-defense in class, it’s important to know that we also teach them that they should only use these trained skills unless absolutely necessary. The goal is to learn how to defend oneself without kicking, beating or inflicting harm to the other person.
While the mental and physical benefits of learning BJJ are undeniable, there are other benefits too; including the chance for your child to make new friends. Our classroom environment boosts children to develop friendships and learn to trust and cooperate with their training partners. These social skills will remain with your child for life and are necessary to nurture and develop friendships for their future. BJJ provides them the opportunity to have a great time in class learning a martial art, doing physical exercise and building new friendships.
Through practice, your child will improve their coordination greatly. They will learn how to break their falls, push-ups, cartwheels and much more. Having advanced body awareness and coordination ensures success in BJJ and any other sport or activity they perform.
